Methodology
BP classification is based on systolic blood pressure (SBP) percentiles for age, gender, and height. The tables used in this calculator are derived from the NHBPEP Working Group report, which established normative BP data from over 80,000 children.
For most accurate results, measure blood pressure:
- After 5 minutes of rest
- In the right arm
- With appropriate cuff size (bladder length 80-100% of arm circumference)
- With the arm supported at heart level
